KOTA KINABALU: Four students from Universiti Mercu Buana, Indonesia and seven students from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) completed a semester at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and received their certificates yesterday.

UMS Psychology and Education Faculty dean Professor Madya Dr Mohd Dahlan A. Malik said during the closing of the programme at the faculty yesterday, the students were exchange students from the two universities.

He added that they would be holding other exchange programmes and believed that such endeavours provided the students with new experience and knowledge that would be beneficial for their growth.

He also hoped that the programme would involve more students in the future.

“The mobility programme is a platform for students to acquire new experience and knowledge from other universities. The experience would be an advantage for them and provide positive impacts to the students,” he said.

In addition to the sharing of experience and knowledge, the students involved also learned the cultures of other people, he said.

He cited that one of the aspects learned by students from Indonesia and from Peninsular Malaysia about Sabah was that there were 36 ethnic people and more than 70 languages used in the state.

He added that next month, a total of six UMS students would be going to Indonesia for the programme.
