KUALA LUMPUR: A special study on the problem of the homeless and finding a suitable solution to curb their increase in the federal capital should be undertaken urgently, said Yayasan Salam Malaysia (Salam) chairman Datuk Ahmad A Talib.
He said although many had donated tangible things such as food and clothes, such efforts only touched the surface rather than looking at the real source of the problem.
“The homeless may have places where they can get assistance, but it does not resolve the actual problems of the homeless.If there are parties that are willing to collaborate with us (Salam), then let us conduct a comprehensive study by profiling the homeless according to categories, such as extreme cases of those who are homeless and finding the best way to overcome the problem, he said.
He told reporters this during an Outreach Yayasan Salam Malaysia programme with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) which handed out contributions to the homeless here, Saturday night. — Bernama
