KUCHING: Saratok MP Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom says he is not disappointed he was sidelined in the federal cabinet reshuffle because he never lobbied for any position.

What had been reported about him and other fellow MPs was just media speculation, he said when asked on his omission from the new federal cabinet.

“Well as you all know, I was busy and devoted in running around to service my two constituencies. Sometimes I have no time to ask for more jobs,” said Mawan who is also Pakan state assemblyman and president of Sarawak Dayak National Union.

“Working is my culture and I never run away from any challenge. I will be there when my services are needed. I have full trust in the BN rather than to be busy lobbying,” he said.

Mawan added that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s cabinet reshuffle reflects the need to further consolidate the Barisan Nasional (BN) government particularly when the BN is facing the next general election.

Congratulating the new federal cabinet members including Lawas MP Datuk Henry Sum Agong as new Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism, Mawan said their appointment was based on their capability and good track record.

“I congratulate them on their promotions. I believed this is due to their capabilities and good track records. The Prime Minister knows very well that the cabinet reshuffle would further consolidate not only the government but also the BN especially when the coalition is facing the next general election,” he said.
