Motorcyclist, boy killed in KK, Sandakan

KOTA KINABALU: A motorcyclist was killed when his machine crashed into a minibus that was making a U-turn at Jalan Iramanis in Lintas on Sunday evening.

Yusri Ag Yusof, 35, died of head injuries at the scene of the accident, city police chief ACP M. Chandra said.

He said initial investigations revealed that Yusri was travelling from Lintas and heading to Inanam.

As he approached the Iramanis U-turn, he rammed into the minibus that was making a U-turn without giving way to the traffic along the main road, Chandra said, adding that the accident occurred about 7.30pm.

The minibus driver was uninjured, he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act.

In Sandakan, a seven-year-old boy died after he was hit by an Isuzu pick-up turck at Jalan Sungai Kayu, off Mile 7 on Sunday evening.

The boy was seen running across the road when he was hit by the vehicle which was coming from Taman Alam Indah and heading towards a mosque at the army camp.

The incident happened around 7.30pm and the boy was pronounced dead at the scene due to serious injuries.

District police chief ACP Zabidi Md Zaid said the case would be investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
