SRI AMAN: The Dayak community needs to have a change of mindset in all aspects in life, in order for them to move forward and progress said Deputy Home Minister Masir Kujat.

According to him, in this modern world, the Dayak community must be at pace with others in contributing towards the country’s development.

“The modern day challenges require us to explore different fields and not only depending on just a singular field.”

He said this in his speech during the leaders-meet-people session in conjunction with the ‘Ngiling Bidai Gawai Dayak 2016’ held at Rumah Perie Manduh here yesterday.

As such, the Dayak community should emulate the Chinese and Malay communities in various fields particularly in business.

On another matter, Masir, who is also the MP for Sri Aman said that the tradition of ‘Ngiling Bidai’ should be preserved as it has been the practice of the Dayak community for centuries.

“This ceremony marked the end of the harvest festival,” he said.

Meanwhile, Bukit Begunan assemblyman Datuk Mong Dagang urged for the Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) to give their support towards the government of the day.

“This is essential in order for more development to be channeled here,” he said.
