SIBU: Three international performance troupes will be participating in the 13th edition of the Borneo Cultural Festival (BCF) this year.

They are Grand Bazaar from Taiwan, Geochang city from South Korea, and Kutien city from Fujian Province, China. The latter two are SMC friendship cities.

There would also be various performances by local performers.

Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) chairman Datuk Tiong Thai King said BCF had become a major tourism event in Sarawak.

“I am glad to see that this event has, since the past few years, been recognised by the Ministry of Tourism, and is included in the ministry’s calendar of tourism events.

“This year, numerous activities have been planned, and as in the past, the major attractions will be the community pavilions – namely Chinese Pavilion, Dayak Pavilion, Malay/Melanau Pavilion, Youth Pavilion – as well as the Cultural Art Exhibition Belt, Sibu Tradex and BCF main stage,” he said when chairing a monthly meeting of the council yesterday.

The 13th BCF will take place from July 21 to 30 at the Sibu Town Square.
