BETONG: A woman had to endure pain for half an hour after she was trapped inside her car following a three-car accident at Betong-Sri Aman road yesterday.

The victim, 33-year-old Ratnawati Dairi, was a passenger in a Proton Saga heading towards Sri Aman when the accident happened. She was pinned to her seat before the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) of Betong extricated her from the wrecked car which collided with a Toyota Hilux and a Perodua Kenari. Ratnawati suffered a broken leg while the other five victims suffered minor injuries.

According to Betong Bomba chief James Whelan, the accident was believed to have happened after a wayward Hilux went into the opposite lane before hitting the Saga and a Kenari trailing it.

“Bomba personnel had to use rescue tools to remove her from the car before she was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. The authorities are investigating the case.
