PUTATAN: The Sabah Umno Liaison Body has not received any resignation letter from party members, including those in Semporna who declared to have left the party, said its secretary, Datuk Seri Yahya Hussin.

“We’ve heard of the resignations but so far the letters have not reached us at the office of the Sabah Umno Liaison Body,” he told reporters after handing over Raya goodies for members of the security forces, here, yesterday.

Yahya, who is also Deputy Chief Minister, urged party members to accept the recent sacking of former deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and former Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Mukhriz, and the suspension of vice-president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.

As members, he said they should adhere to the decision taken by the supreme council, the party’s highest decision making body, and remain loyal to the party and its leadership.

“Therefore, when the supreme council makes such decision to dismiss, suspend or take disciplinary action, we should all give support to ensure that the party remains strong.

“We have rules and the party’s constitution that should be followed because it is set by Umno members. If we take action contrary to what is stipulated in the party, of course we will be punished,” he said.

At the event, Yahya, who also is Petagas assemblyman and heads the Umno Putatan division, presented Hari Raya goodies to the security forces on duty in Putatan and Penampang districts.
