KUCHING: The Youth and Sports Ministry will quickly overcome a number of problems identified at the Sarawak Squash Centre before the start of the Sukma from July 22 to 31.

The Ministry’s Deputy secretary-general (Management) Nik Abdul Kadir Nik Mohamad said a number of problems were spotted at the venue during inspection yesterday.

Without stating details of the problems, Nik Abdul said the contractor responsible for building the centre had pledged to rectify the problems immediately.

The Sarawak Squash Centre that was built at a cost of RM7.4 million and completed on June 27 has eight courts, including two courts that can be used for doubles matches, the first of its kind in the country. The centre is situated close to the State Stadium in Petra Jaya and can accommodate about 200 spectators. — Bernama
