KUDAT: The federal government has allocated RM 117,000 in financial aid to the 234 households who were affected by the recent fire at Kampung Landung Ayang.
Minister of Special Tasks Datuk Teo Chee Kang represented Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Shahidan bin Kassim in disbursing the financial aid at Dewan Tun Mustapha here.
Each family received RM500 for them to purchase essential items for the coming Hari Raya celebration.
Teo, who is also Tanjong Kapor assemblyman, thanked the federal government for the financial assistance.
Teo has previously brought the request for allocation to assist the victims during Shahidan’s visit to Kudat after the blaze.
Meanwhile,Teo said the government had completed the construction of 150 transit homes to accommodate the fire victims of Kampung Landung Ayang.
He added that 50 per cent of the transit homes had been occupied.
Teo urged the villagers at the transit homes to exercise caution when handling fire, especially during cooking.
Also present were Kudat District Officer Sabdin Ibrahim and Tanjong Kapor Community Development Leader (PPM) Datuk Peter Chin.
