LAWAS: Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan urges muslims to abide by the teachings in the Al Quran.
He said the holy book was not just for them to read, but to practise the Islamic teaching in their daily life.
“The Al Quran is the guiding principles of Islam which when implemented fully could ensure happiness in life and after death,” he said yesterday at the Khatamal Al Quran organised by the Malaysian Islamic Welfare Organisation (Perkim), Lawas.
He said efforts would be intensified, through Perkim, to encourage Muslims to learn and understand better the Al Quran.
Meanwhile, he also reminded the people to be wary of outside influences especially by the social media where many abused the religion to champion their missions which contradict the teaching of Islam.
He said a clear example of such group was the IS which used Islam as their bet to recruit those who were less knowledgeable in the religion to join their hostile and inhuman activities.
A total of 813 people took part in the long distance Khatamal Al-Quran Tadarus, Lawas District.
Among those present at the function were the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Deputy Minister Datuk Henry Sum Agong, Limbang Resident Datuk Maria Hasman, Lawas District Officer Husaini Hakim and chairman of Perkim Lawas Datuk Dayang Morliah Datuk Awang Daud who is also the wife of Awang Tengah.
