KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s unique spirit of harmony and tolerance can be used to curb the spread of terrorism.

Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) Sabah president Datuk Frankie Liew, in saying this, urged Sabahans to maintain and further enhance the existing ties in order to spread positive energy to the society and thus keep terrorism out of our doors.

Liew had expressed his worries and concern over the recent attacks around the world by these religious extremists killing hundreds of innocent people.

“It is just as worrying as such attack has also taken place in Malaysia. This is the time for Malaysians to keep to the spirit of harmony and tolerance. We must continue to work together, live together regardless of our different race, religion or culture. I believe if we can strengthen ties and unity, we can stop whoever with intent to sabotage our efforts in economy and social development,” he said.

Liew said this when met at Head of State Tun Juhar Mahirudin’s Hari Raya open house at Istana Negeri yesterday.

Also present were MCCC Sabah vice presidents Foo Ngee Kee and Datuk Tan Tiang Lai, secretary Tan Kian Min, treasurer Datuk Liew Siew Kian, commercial affairs chief Robert Chang Kon Hee,public relations chief Roger Lok Ee Kai, Ngan Yoke Loo and committee member Jacky Chin Thau Chung.
