KUCHING: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) will hold its next triennial delegates conference (TDC) on October 22 and 23 in Bintulu.

Party president Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Masing said all office bearer posts would be open for contest in the TDC.

“It is open. There is no restriction. It has always been the rule that we have. Either this makes us stronger or gives us problem, but I think so far this has made us stronger over the years,” he told reporters after the party’s supreme council meeting at party headquarters here yesterday.

The TDC organising committee is chaired by Kakus assemblyman Datuk John Sikie Tayai and assisted by Majang Renggie (Samalaju) and Snowdan Lawan (Balai Ringin).

The previous TDC held three years ago in Sibu, saw contests for the five vice president posts and 15 ordinary supreme council member posts. The posts of president, deputy president, women chief and youth chief were unopposed.

The secretary general, treasurer general, deputy secretary general, deputy treasurer general, information chief and deputy information chief are appointed posts. There are also several appointed posts as ordinary supreme council members.

More details on the TDC as well as contenders for the election of office bearers will be announced soon.

On another matter, Masing said the party had formed a disciplinary committee to deal with those at fault with PRS and Barisan Nasional in the just concluded state election.

This committee is chaired by Batang Ai assemblyman Malcolm Mussen Lamoh, assisted by Wilson Nyabong Ijang (Pelagus) and PRS women chief Datuk Seri Doris Sophia Brodie.

“If there are members who need to be disciplined, this committee will look into it. They will look into faults, if any, in the just concluded 11th state election,” he said.

PRS has already sacked two members – Ali Adap and Dr Ali Puji – for contesting as independents in Batu Danau and Tamin respectively in the election, but there are talks that some members are yet to be disciplined for their part in assisting other independent candidates.

On yesterday’s meeting, Masing said it was the first meeting of the supreme council since the last one held prior to the state election.

Also in attendance were two new assemblymen Christopher Gira (Tamin) and Kennedy Chukpai Ugon (Murum) who were invited to come despite not yet becoming supreme council members.

Masing also took the opportunity to thank the voters for the 100 per cent performance achieved by PRS, which saw the party winning all its allocated 11 seats.

“We have won 100 per cent twice in a row now. The first one was in 2013 where we won all our six parliamentary seats in a convincing manner. We also achieved 100 per cent KPI (key performance indicator),” said Masing.
