SIBU: Second Finance Minister Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh is recovering in Kuching after his Total Knee Replacement operation.

He is now resting and he expects to spring back into active politics in two months.

In a press statement yesterday, Wong, who is also the president of UPP, said the surgeon had given him a three-month medical leave.

“I had the operation on July 4. I hope to start work after two months. By then, I shall be able to attend official functions and go into field works, like inspecting projects, etc.”

The minister expressed gratitude for the many calls he had received.

He said some had raised concern as to why they had not seen him in official functions, like the opening of the indoor stadium in Sibu and during the Hari Raya visits of the Head of State.

Wong said he was going through physiotherapy and he needed rest after the operation.

He said the operation was smooth.

“Although I am resting, I am still receiving feedback on progress of works and needs in my constituency. I won’t leave the constituents behind. We are together for progress in one mind and spirit.”
