MIRI: Thirty Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) Miri members visited Bakun during the recent Hari Raya Puasa break.

DBNA Miri chairman Capt Bernard Idit said the trip aimed to expose DBNA members to developments related to the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE).

“Among the trip’s objectives was to let our members see some of the developments under SCORE, including the Bakun HEP, while at the same time experience the Orang Ulu lifestyle there,” he said.

During the visit, members had lunch with the Kenyah community at Uma Baha, explored nature attractions at Bakun, and stayed on a ‘jelatong’ – floating house on Bakun lake.

“We also held various activities during the three days, including sports activities with the local community.

“The participants also enjoyed catching their own lunch and dinner, such as the popular ikan baong in the greenish-blue lake,” he said.

Bernard added members also swam in the lake and experienced the breathtaking Belanum Waterfall.
