KUALA LUMPUR: For stealing metal sheets at a construction site, a scrap metal collector and his wife were each fined RM1,000 in default a month’s imprisonment by the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday
Magistrate Mohd Faizal Ismail meted out the punishment to Mustaza Mohd Sahar, 36, and his wife Noor Raihan Zakaria, 28, after they pleaded guilty to stealing three metal sheets worth RM500 belonging to IJM Construction Sdn Bhd at a construction site in IJM Kuchai Link, Jalan Kuchai Lama here at 12.30 pm on July 12.
According to the facts of the case, an employee at the construction site saw a motorcycle stop at the edge of the site and saw a man lifting the metal sheets and placing them on the lap of a woman who was on the motorcycle.
The employee then confronted the couple and they tried to escape but failed when their motorcycle skidded.
Deputy public prosecutor Farah Aimy Zainul Anwar prosecuted while the couple were not represented. — Bernama
