All the 18 assistant chef de mission for Sukma XVIII are urged to work hard to make Sarawak the overall champions and make this national games the grandest of all.

“We won our last Sukma title in 1994 and 22 years is too long, so we must make sure we can realise our dreams not only to win it but to win it big to realise our target of 72 golds,” said Sarawak Sukma XVIII chef de mission Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

He said this at the first briefing for ACDMs and Sarawak State Sports Council (MSNS) sports co-ordinators at the Dewan Suara main hall, Kuching Civic Centre, on Thursday night.

Karim chaired the briefing-meeting to co-ordinate efforts and rally support for the Sarawak athletes competing in the games from July 22-31.

Also present were permanent secretary to the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Solidarity, Kameri Affandi and deputy chef-de-mission and Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) chief executive officer Dr Ong Kong Swee.
