KOTA KINABALU: A secondary school teacher who was receiving treatment at the Manggatal Clinic died less than an hour after she was involved in a road accident at Jalan Kokol, Manggatal yesterday.

The victim, identified as Suzanne Darlyn @ Anne Kula, 34, from Kampung Keliangau, Manggatal succumbed to her injuries at the clinic around noon.

The victim was involved in a road accident when an Isuzu D-Max vehicle collided head-on with her Perodua Kelisa car along Jalan Kokol around 11.10am yesterday.

City police chief ACP M. Chandra said initial police investigation showed the victim was heading to Manggatal from Bukit Kokol when the Isuzu D-Max that was coming from the opposite direction swerved into the opposite lane and collided head-on with the Perodua Kelisa car.

The victim was initially taken to Manggatal Clinic for treatment by passers-by and was scheduled to be transferred to Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) but passed away less than an hour later.

“The body has been taken to QEH for a post-mortem and police have contacted her next of kin.

“Police have also detained the 27-year-old Isuzu D-Max driver to facilitate police investigation,” said Chandra, adding that the case would be investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
