MARUDI: Assistant Minister for Local Government Datu Dr Penguang Manggil yesterday attended the Hari Raya open

house organised by the village security and development committee (JKKK) of Kampung Benawa.

Speaking at the gathering held at the village community hall, the Marudi assemblyman wished the Muslims from the Kiput community ‘Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri’ and thanked them for the support they gave to him during the May 7 state election,

At the same time, he advised all parties to mend their differences and come together for the sake of unity and racial harmony.

He also urged the Muslim community in the village to continue supporting the BN government to enjoy the fruits of development.

He emphasised that he is the representative for all the people in the constituency regardless of race and religion.

“I will be fair to all communities in Marudi,” he assured.

Later, Penguang announced MRP grants of RM100,000 for the renovation and upgrading of the village mosque, RM20,000 to Marudi District Council for constructing and repairing the cement footpath in the village, RM60,000 for the improvement of Balai Raya Kampung Benawa and RM10,000 for the parents-teachers association of SK Kampung Benawa.

Among those who accompanied Penguang were Penghulu Ayub Hassan, Marudi District Council secretary Petrick Linggi Taboh, Baram information officer Joseph James, TR Benang Pilang and other local community leaders.

Penguang and his entourage of about 200 people from Marudi, Bakong and Tinjar also visited Kpg Lubok Nibong, another Kiput Muslim village.
