Malaysian police chief receives royal honour from Sultan of Brunei

MIRI: Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar was accorded with a royal decoration from Sultan of Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah in conjunction with the Sultan’s 70th birthday celebration recently.

The Sultan conferred the ‘Most Exalted Order of Paduka Keberanian Laila Terbilang — First Class’ on Khalid during the investiture at the Indera Buana Grand Hall of Istana Darul Iman in Bandar Seri Begawan on July 15.

Singapore’s Chief of Defence of the Singapore Armed Forces Lt-Gen Perry Lim and Commissioner of Royal Brunei Police Force Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Jammy Mohd Shah Al-Islam were also awarded with the honour, which carries the title ‘Dato Paduka Seri’ and is among 22 royal decorations of the highest order in Brunei.

Industrial and Entreprenuer Development, Trade and Investment Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, who attended the royal birthday celebration upon a personal invitation from Sultan Hassanal, congratulated Khalid on his receipt of the honour.

The IGP was also granted an audience with the monarch prior to the royal banquet.
