Local jailed for possessing stolen lorry

TAWAU: A 25-year-old local man was jailed for 12 motnhs by the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday for possessing a stolen lorry.

Magistrate Ferhanshah Farene imposed the sentence on Muhammad Abdul bin Sopian under Section 411 of the Penal Code which provides not less than six months in jail and not more than five years and can also be fined.

The accused was caught in possession of a Toyota lorry worth RM15,000 that was reported stolen by Syarikat Aliran Ribu Sdn Bhd on July 17 this year at about 4.30pm, in front of Kilang Kayu Oneday Enterprise, Sri Aman Road Mile 5 Apas.

The lorry was parked at Hwa Dat Light Industrial Estate, Mile 2.5 Apas on July 16 at about 8am.

Police patrol car received information at 4.30pm on July 17 that the stolen lorry was spotted at Taman Berjaya driven by an unidentified man.

He was caught after he parked the lorry in front of the wood factory to transport wood from Mile 5 to the factory.

Prosecuting officer ASP Aripa Changgi prosecuted.
