KOTA KINABALU: The setting up of the Supply and Service Outsourcing (SSO) centre at the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP) near here recieved a thumb-up from the Federation of Sabah Industries (FSI).

The Federatiom also expressed equal positive reaction to the scheduled construction of a liquified gas plant at the same area by Sabah Energy Corporation (SEC).

With the realisation of the two development projects, its FSI president Datuk Mohd Basri Abd Gafar said Sabahans particularly the business sector and consumers of energy stood a chance to benefit more.

He said FSI agreed that the development of the SSO centre costing RM30 million on a five-acre land would not only help the state government’s desire to create the halal food hub in KKIP but would also address some problems faced by the local Small Medium Entrepreneurs (SMEs) .

“Infact, FSI is in parallel direction with the government in an effort to help the SMEs and at the same time promote the halal food hub in KKIP,” he stressed.

He also agreed with the recent statement made by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Raymond Tan that The SSO centre would function as a venue where SMEs in Sabah could seek help to overcome various problems particularly in

marketing and production of products. In the past 5 to10 years, Basri said the increasing numbers of micro and small entrepreneurs here has been tremendous and the realization of the SSO centre is timely.

On the liquified gas plant, Basri stressed that the people of Sabah particularly stakeholders in the manufacturing and industrial sectors can now look forward to being provided by SEC with cheaper and safer source of energy in the near future.

“The completion of the JV project would mean that Sabahans will soon enjoy safe and environmental friendly source of energy,” he reiterated.
