KUCHING: Four persons, including two children, suffered injuries after the car they were travelling in was involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle in Balai Ringin, Serian yesterday.

The 9.30am incident saw personnel from the Serian Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) despatched to the scene to rescue the male driver, who was badly-hurt and pinned to his seat.

Firemen needed around 20 minutes to free the victim, who was then sent to the Serian Hospital together with his three passengers.

Two of the three passengers, including a boy, suffered broken limbs while a girl sustained only light injuries.

In an unrelated incident, a motorcyclist from Kampung Mambong was hospitalised after suffering a compound fracture on his leg in an accident on Thursday night. The incident took place along Jalan Mambong-Sarig around 11.45pm when the 28-year-old victim, who was heading home after visiting a friend, collided with a 44-year-old motorcyclist, who subsequently suffered a broken leg.

Personnel from the Civil Defence Force and Sentosa Hospital were despatched to the scene to attend to both victims and sent them to the Sarawak General Hospital.
