KUCHING: Sarawak Association for Peoples’ Aspiration (Sapa) and Dayak National Congress (DNC) held a flag-raising ceremony at Padang Merdeka to observe Sarawak Day yesterday.
Sapa chairperson Lina Soo said the ceremony was important to Sarawakians as it encouraged patriotism. The event attracted over 60 people from all walks of life.
Prior to the flag-raising, Sarawak’s former anthem ‘Fair Land Sarawak’ was played prior to ‘Ibu Pertiwiku’.
Soo also read out the nine cardinal principles of the Sarawak Constitution 1941 and recited a pledge of allegiance to the Sarawak flag together with those present.
The master of ceremony for the event was former Padungan assemblyman Dominique Ng.
