Hari Raya gathering for people to mingle, promote friendship, understanding

KUCHING: Energy, Green Technology and Water Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Dr James Dawos yesterday hoped the Hari Raya Aidilfitri gathering for Puncak Borneo parliamentary constituency would be held annually for people in the constituency to mingle to promote friendship and understanding.

“It is good that this gathering (Hari Raya) is held yearly to bring together the people of various races and religions to celebrate assuch gathering can promote and strengthen unity among our people,” he said at the gathering organised by Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Mambong branch.

The gathering at 10th mile community hall yesterday was the first of its kind, attended by Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh, PBB Mambong branch chairman Sora Rusah and deputy chairman Datuk Detta Samem who is the organising chairman.  The parliamentary constituency of Puncak Borneo, a predominantly Bidayuh area, comprises Serumbu, Mambong and Tarat state seats, and has eight Muslim villages.

Dawos who is Puncak Borneo MP was glad the party’s branch organised the gathering, and hoped for more such gatherings in the years to come.

He said the people should continue to preserve the unity and harmony enjoyed for the state to develop further, and urged them to support Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem and his team for them to bring more progress, and look after the welfare and rights of Sarawakians.

Adenan had been instrumental in bringing change, looking afer the welfare of the people, and protecting and demanding for the rights of the people in the state, he said.

At the function, Dawos presented cheques for outright grants (OG) to four villages in the constituency.
