KUCHING: Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar has given the thumbs-up to the venues he visited for the Sukma XVIII games before the official ceremony on Saturday night.

So far, the games are running well and everything is going according to plan for the games’ facilities in Kuching,he told reporters when met at Megalanes Bowling Centre at Emart Batu Kawa today (July 24) where the Ten-pin Bowling matches for Sukma XVIII will be held.

On the cooperation of all parties from Peninsular Malaysia and the Sarawak government on the games, Khairy said that it was good to have the support of all parties, especially on the technical side.

On the registration of contingents, he was happy to report that this was the first time that there was no overlapping in athlete registration during the games.

He revealed that certain states in previous games claimed the same athlete to compete for them, which caused confusion.

He also wished good luck to all the participating contingents, as it is good exposure for young athletes to prepare themselves for the SEA games next year.
