KUCHING: Police personnel were stationed at the Sarawak Aquatic Centre at Jalan Stadium in Petra Jaya to provide security during this year’s Sukma XVIII 2016.

Corp Jong Jin Lian, 46, who had served the police force for 22 years and now based at the General Operation Force, was among those given the responsibility to secure the media centre located inside the Aquatic Centre.

Jong said a total of four policemen work in rotation basis at the centre.

Another policeman Corp Rudy Entaba, 41, said they were also tasked to care for the safety of VIPs and Sukma officials.

Rudy has served the police force for 19 years and he is now based at the Kuching District Police Headquarters at Jalan Simpang Tiga here.

“Safety control is needed particularly during visits by VIPs to the media centre so that everything would run smoothly as planned,” he said.

Jong said she was also previously tasked to secure the football stadium during matches besides ensuring the safety of election officials and VIPs.

Rudy said Sukma XVIII would be an experience he would not easily forget.

“The experience would be useful to my career,” he added.

Both Jong and Rudy said they are proud to be working during Sukma XVIII where their contributions are truly needed.
