KUCHING: Sarawak’s Women’s Four team retained their gold medal after defeating Selangor 16-11 in the final at the Sarawak Lawn Bowl complex here yesterday.

Nur Fithri Yaani, Sh. Syaza Nisrina, Fur Fitrah and Jamiah Hasbi, defending champions in the event, had to perform their best in a tough battle against the Selangor quartet.

“They pulled off their best shot and had once again proven that they are the Sukma national champion after first winning it in Sukma 2014 in Perlis, was how an ecstatic coach Siti Nadiahusna put it yesterday.

She hoped that the keenly-awaited victory would be a boost to the rest of the state bowlers as they pursued more wins in the remaining events.

Nadiahusna, however, was somewhat dissapointed with the performance of men’s singles bowler Yusuf Amminudin who lost in his quarter-final.

“Let’s just hope that the women’s and men’s pairs and triple category starting tommorow (July 25) will see us winning another two gold medals,” she added.

The jubilant four received their medals from State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohammad Morshidi Abdul Ghani who was also accompanied by Assistant Minister for Solidarity Rosey Yunus.
