KUCHING: A woman succumbed to injuries in a crash when the hatchback driven by her husband hit an electric pole and a vase at Jalan Laksamana Cheng Ho here around 4am yesterday.
The woman, said to be three months pregnant, died while being transported to the hospital.
The couple were heading to CityONE Megamall through Jalan Laksamana Cheng Ho.
According to initial investigation, the driver was believed to have lost control of the vehicle.
The husband sustained severe injuries and was admitted to the Sarawak General Hospital.
The accident was confirmed by Kuching district police chief ACP Abang Ahmad Abang Julai.
It is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act, 1987.
She suffered serious injuries to the head and body following the fatal crash.
It was also said that the accident could have happened due to the slippery road condition at the time.
