KAPIT: Datuk Wilson Ugak, the Hulu Rajang MP, is relieved that he was able to solve most of the issues affecting the Penan community along Sungai Linau at Long Lidan, Long Tanyit, Long Kajang and Long Apit in Belaga District.

He said the Penan community had raised issues on social welfare, education of their children and national registration documents among others.

“The Penans also requested for solar hybrid power supply, health clinic and pre-school for their kids. They want to set up a pre-school for their children because they want their children to adopt a new lifestyle and receive education.

“They want their children to succeed like others in the society. Kemas has been tasked to look into their request for the pre-school.

“I have managed to solve most of their problems. I’m very happy to have solved their problems and they’re also happy with me helping them,” he said when contacted by The Borneo Post yesterday.

He revealed that during his routine visits to the Penan community, he brought along officers from relevant government departments and agencies to act on their problems on the spot.

Ugak is taking advantage of the break in Parliament sitting to move around his constituency to meet the people and to receive feedback and request which he would forward to the relevant agencies for immediate action.
