Competition held to select Kemas kids to represent P196 Stampin

KUCHING: Children from some 30 Community Development Department (Kemas) kindergartens had a fun-filled day of creativity, learning and healthy competition during the ‘P196 Stampin Kemas Kindergarten Students’ Potential Day 2016’ yesterday.

The event was held at Kelulut Hall in Mindef public housing area at 6th Mile.

Kemas Lundu officer Jeswin Liew said that the annual competition provided children with opportunities to showcase and develop their talents, interests and creativity from the foundation stage of child development.

“Those selected will represent their respective kindergartens at the Kuching Zone level which will be held on Aug 4 at Pustaka Sarawak,” she said at the official closing ceremony yesterday.

The competition categories were for ‘nasyid’, dancing, designing, storytelling, ‘kompang’ and oration.

SUPP Batu Kawah chairman Tan Joo Phoi represented Local Government minister Datuk Dr Sim Kian Hui at the event.

“We also take this opportunity to strengthen social ties, unity and cooperation among Kemas staff, parents, the community, local leaders as well as other relevant agencies,” Liew said.

She also encouraged parents to identify their children’s potential and help them to grow socially, emotionally, physically, intellectually and spiritually.

“I hope our children will continue to strive for excellence in all they do and represent Kemas at district, state and even national levels in the future.”

Kindergartens involved included those from Kampung Sadong, Batu Kawah PGA Camp, Penrissen Camp, 10th Mile TUDM, RPR Landeh, RPR Phase II Batu Kawah, Desawira TUDM, Kampung Stutong/Lubok Buan, Kampung Tematu/Sudat, Kampung Sungai Tapang, Kampung Betong, Semenggoh Camp, Kampung Tengah Sungai, Taman Cahaya Indah, Kampung Stampin Iban, Kampung Sinar Budi Baru and Tondong/Moyan.

Also present were Tabika Emas PGA Batu Kawa chairman Mohd Zaimi Ismail and senior supervisor of P196 Stampin parliamentary area Busman Ramli.
