MIRI: Kiew Jik Wei was all smiles at the end of the ‘Rappala & Storm Jigging’ fishing competition here recently, having hooked a Giant Trevally fish that weighed a whopping 8.695kg – the heaviest catch of the day.

The haul earned Kiew the grand prize of RM2,000 and a set of brand new fishing tackles.

Rizamry Zainudin finished as first runner-up, with a catch of ‘Talang-talang’ fish weighing 7.885kg, which brought him RM1,000 and fishing tackles.

Behind Rizamry was Lorenzo Aimanso, who also landed a Giant Trevally fish weighing 6.47kg that earned him RM600 and fishing tackles.

Both Thien Ho Soon and Shebli Bidin also caught the same fish weighing 6.16kg and 5.865kg, respectively. Thien pocketed RM400 for his catch and Shebli, RM200. Both also received fishing tackles.

The competition was run by Miri Anglers Club (MAC) to promote line fishing among the locals.
