KOTA SAMARAHAN: A woman motorist was killed after her vehicle went out of control and collided with an oncoming van near Sadong Jaya yesterday.
Police identified the deceased as Timna Martin Gedom @ Udom, 24, from Rumah Berbanggai Kiba in Betong.
State traffic officer in charge DSP Alexson Naga Chabu said the incident occurred around 2.30pm at KM22 Jalan Kota Samarahan-Sadong Jaya, when Timna was driving alone from Sadong Jaya towards Kota Samarahan.
“Initial investigation at the scene indicated the victim’s Myvi went out of control at a bend along the road, causing the vehicle to end up in the opposite lane where it collided with an oncoming van,” Alexson said when contacted.
“The victim was pronounced dead on the spot, while the 50-year-old van driver was unhurt.”
The incident is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
It is understood that the deceased was a medical assistant at the Sadong Jaya health clinic.
