KUCHING: Two cars are on offer as grand prizes for the lucky draw at the closing ceremony of Sukma XVIII at Sarawak Stadium this Sunday (July 31).

They are Perodua Myvi 1.3 Standard Auto and Perodua Axia 1.0 Standard Auto sponsored by Shorefield Sdn Bhd.

State Secretary Datuk Amar Tan Sri Morshidi Abdul Ghani said the cars are part of the incentives to attract the public to attend the closing ceremony.

“We will have some surprises for the closing ceremony and we hope that more people will come to witness the event,” he said at the Sukma XVIII media centre at Sarawak Aquatic Centre yesterday.

Morshidi, who is Sukma XVIII organising chairman, said more than 30,000 tickets will be issued to the public who can collect them at Gate A2, C1 and C2 starting at 4:30pm.

The lucky draw will be conducted at the main stage at 11pm. Other prizes include three Demak EX90 motorcycles, five Lerun Evo race mountain bikes, four Acer notebooks, four 32” LED Samsung TVs and four Samsung JF smartphones.

Gate A1 will be closed to the public as it is specially for the 7,000 students who will be performing during the closing ceremony.

“There are ample seats for spectators as the stadium has a seating capacity of 40,000 people,” assured Morshidi.

However, he advised the public to turn up early or carpool. “Parking space will not be enough so the public is advised to carpool to avoid congestion,” he added.

“Parking is free for the closing ceremony and at all competition venues and the public should not pay any parking fee to anyone,” said Morshidi.

He said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak is expected to attend the closing ceremony as well as the chief ministers of all states. — by Ting Tieng Hee
