More rural areas to have neighbourhood watch committees

LIMBANG: The National Unity and Integration department, Limbang is focussing on increasing the number of neighbourhood watch committee (KRT) in rural areas particularly in Batu Danau constituency.

This is to enhance efforts at instilling neighbourly spirit, fostering closer relationship at all levels within a community as well as playing important role in keeping a place peaceful and harmonious Limbang Division Unity officer Mohd Fakri Asmad said currently all urban areas in Limbang as well as in Bukit Kota constituency had KRTs.

“Our focus is to set up more KRT in rural areas including Batu Danau constituency.

“We will work closely with the respective JKKKs – village development and security committees to set up the KRT,”

he said when met by the media during the department’s Hari Raya Puasa gathering recently.

Mohd Fakri said currently Limbang has 49 KRTs and 19 Voluntary Patrol Scheme (SRS).

He added that this year, three KRTs would be set up in Limbang and three SRS namely SRS Kampung Patiambun, Taman Sri Patiambun and Kampung Pahlawan Zon Tamiang.

On the gathering, he said it was to enable staff and guests including media personnel to celebrate the Hari Raya Aidilfitri besides fostering closer rapport and cooperation.
