KUCHING: Sarawak’s hopes to grab gold in mixed double squash were crushed when they lost to Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur (WPKL) at Sarawak Squash Centre today (July 28).

Jess Tay Sin Kiong and Ma Si Yi lost 0-2 (3-11,10-11) to WPKL’s Kwan Ka Junn and Andrea Lee Jia Qi.

The bronze medal was won by Negeri Sembilan’s Zoe Foo Yuk Han-Darren Rahul Pragasam Desmond Pragasan and Terengganu’s Nurina Mohd Najib-Danial Nurhaqiem Shahrul Izham.

Sarawak’s only gold in squash came from men’s doubles when Tay and Marcus Sim defeated WPKL’s Andrew Lee and Shyan Kwan.

Sarawak’s squash team earned one gold and one silver this Sukma XVIII.

In the last Sukma in Perlis, the state won one gold (men double) and bronze (mixed double).
