KOTA KINABALU: The close friendship between China and Malaysia, particularly Sabah, has brought many benefits not only in terms of its economic and trade contributions but also opens up opportunities for future collaborations in many fields such as medical, agriculture, manufacturing, cultural and other sectors.

Parti Bersatu Sabah deputy president cum Sustainable Energy Development Authority Malaysia chairman Datuk Dr Yee Moh Chai said this when officiating at the free health clinic co-organized by the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China to Sabah, Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Sabah Ma-Zhong Friendship Association at the Grandis Hotel here.

“Today’s free health clinic is a program that allows Sabahans the opportunity to experience the benefits of Chinese traditional medicine from six expert Chinese medical practitioners from Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and such program will, apart from being beneficial to our society, also open up opportunities for future cooperations in the medical field,” he said.

He added such program will further strengthen the friendship between both countries.

Dr Yee also noted that since the setting up of the China Consul-General office in Sabah, the Consul-General has been facilitating Sabahan entrepreneurs who are interested to penetrate the vast China market, as well as making it more convenient for the public to submit visa applications and obtaining information about China.

He also said Sabah was very fortunate to have a people-oriented and approachable Consul-General and expressed hope that Consul-General Chen Peijie would organize more of such program in the future.

The one-day free health clinic will be conducted in Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Tawau and Kudat.
