SHAH ALAM: Police yesterday dismissed as untrue a social media report of a shooting incident in Section 15 here early yesterday.

Shah Alam police chief ACP Shafien Mamat said the circulated photograph was of an incident where the police found an imitation pistol in a Toyota Alphard vehicle left with the doors open yesterday evening.

“The police responded to a telephone call at 7.15pm from members of the public and an inspection of the vehicle revealed an imitation pistol in the pocket of the driver’s seat.

“There was no shooting incident at that place,” he told a press conference here.

He said a check showed that the vehicle was registered to a woman who had an address here.

Shafien said that in a follow-up action, the police arrested two men in the vicinity and learned that one of them was the son of the owner of the vehicle.

“After questioning the two men, police picked up another man at a house in Batu Tiga here at about 3.30am.

“The man had an imitation pistol and tools to break into and steal vehicles,” he said.

Shafien said the suspects, in their early 20s, had been remanded until Saturday to assist in the police investigation.  — Bernama
