KAPIT: Twenty firemen, including 10 volunteers from Song’s Fire and Rescue Volunteers squad, took part in a fire drill held at Bomba Song recently.
The fire drill doubled up as a refresher course for the firemen to ensure that the firefighters and volunteer squad maintained full fitness and were familiar with firefighting equipment. They were also taught how to deal with fire outbreak, team work and coordination during emergencies.
The Fire and Rescue Volunteer Squad in Song has about 40 registered members, and it has played very crucial roles in fire prevention and rescue services in this rural town.
The members were trained by the regular firemen from Bomba Kapit and equipped with the basic firefighting skills and equipment.
