KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is asking everyone to enhance awareness with regard to security by reviewing stricter preparedness measures including facing the threats from Daesh militants.

The Prime Minister, when stressing the matter, said Umno wanted these measures to include amending the standard operating procedure (SOP), instructions and guidance on security including methods of conducting meetings involving leaders and public functions.

“The Home Minister (Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi) had announced the Ops Cantas 2 (Crime Prevention Ops 2) and this is followed by deeper studies on intrusions at the Malaysia-Thailand border areas as well as other measures that need to be taken such as at public gatherings and so on.

“Maybe, several aspects that can improve the level of security at open functions should be studied,” he said after chairing the Umno supreme council meeting at Menara Dato Onn yesterday.

He said there was no country in the world, including Malaysia, that could escape from the Daesh threat currently after the numerous incidents that occurred throughout the world almost every day. — Bernama
