KUCHING: The Terengganu team made a clean sweep of both gold medals in the men and women’s categories through Ahmad Syazrin Awang Ilah who clocked in 1:39.492s and Siti Shahirah Hashim with 1:53.521s.

Homeground advantage proved useless for the Sarawak cycling team who ended their run in the MTB (mountain bike) Downhill final without a podium finish at the Bukit Siol Track in Petra Jaya yesterday.

Sarawak men’s rider Arif Hamizan Sedi only managed 1:47.454secs for 11th position while Radin Nur Khaliesha Radin Kristino clocked 2:58.441s for the women’s team to end in 12th position.

The Terengganu triumph was cemented when teammate Ibnu Hasyimie Omar clocked 1:42.435s for bronze in the men’s category behind silver medallist Alvin Leong Vui Chung of Sabah (1:41.247s).

In the women’s category, second for silver was Nia Vanessa Suhana Zaidi (Pahang — 2:03.530s) while bronze went to Natahsya Soon (Sabah — 2:03.558s).

Today will see the finals of the MTB Cross-country Olympic category for both men and women starting at 9.30am (men) and 11.30am (women) at Bukit Siol Track. The prize presentation is expected to be held at 1pm for both categories.
