Adenan congratulates state athletes for Sukma XVIII accomplishments

KUCHING: Coming second in terms of gold medals earned is no small feat, said Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem in his latest Facebook post today (July 31).

Adenan said that Sarawak’s performance during the Sukma XVIII Games was an impressive accomplishment, winning 57 gold medals – a more than 10 medal increase from the previous games.

“While we aspired to become the champion, it is honorable to reach the second rank with only 2 gold medals difference.

“57 gold medals is a huge +10 increase from previous SUKMA. Overall, our medal tally also have (sic) increased,” he said.

He went to congratulate the state’s athletes, coaches, officials and everyone else involved in the games for a job well done.

Adenan ended his post by saying: “This improvement signals a bright future for Sarawak athletes in the local and international sports arena. Agi Idup Agi Ngelaban!”

The post has since garnered over 1,500 reactions and over a hundred shares in a little over 20 minutes.

The closing ceremony for the Sukma XVIII Games will be held tonight at Sarawak Stadium.
