PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak yesterday received a courtesy call from Golkar Party chairman Setya Novanto and his delegation at Perdana Putra building here yesterday.

Setya, who led a 10-member delegation, met with Najib, who is also Barisan Nasional chairman and Umno president for about 30 minutes.

Also present was BN and Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.

Setya is Golkar Party new chairman following the party’s extraordinary congress in Nusa Dua, Bali, on May 14.

Najib yesterday also received courtesy calls from seven incoming Malaysian envoys who will be taking up their overseas assignment soon.

They are the incoming Malaysian Ambassador to Belgium Datuk Hasnudin Hamzah, incoming Malaysian Ambassador to the Philippines Datuk Raszlan Abdul Rashid, incoming Malaysian Ambassador to Switzerland Datuk Mahinder Singh a/l Ram Singh, incoming Malaysian Ambassador to Croatia Mohd Hassan Bal, incoming Malaysian Ambassador to Venezuela Muzafar Shah Mustafa, incoming Malaysian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Roseli Abdul and incoming Malaysian Ambassador to Turkey, Abd Razak Abdul Wahab.

They have received their credentials from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah at the Istana Negara on July 18.

Also present during the courtesy call with Najib, which lasted for about 30 minutes, were the incoming Malaysia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva Datuk Amran Mohamed Zin and incoming Malaysia’s Permanent Representative to Asean, Jakarta Datuk Shariffah Norhana Syed Mustaffa. — Bernama
