SANDAKAN: The Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom) has confirmed that it has received information claiming that an Indonesian has been kidnapped in Kretam, Kuala Kinabatangan, near here.
ESSCom commander Datuk Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid said when contacted that they are investigating the claim, but could not give any details yet.
No confirmation has been made by Sabah police commissioner Datuk Abdul Rashid Harun as he has not been able to be contacted.
According to the claim, on Wednesday (August 3, 2016) an Indonesian boat captain of a fishing trawler was allegedly abducted by armed men in a speedboat. Two other men on the fishing trawler then sailed on to Sandakan to lodge a police report.
