KUCHING: St Joseph Alumni wrested the KGS Captain’s Alumni Golf nett title from St Thomas Alumni at Kelab Golf Sarawak in Petra Jaya on Saturday.

Led by Dr David Sylvester Ling, the ex-Josephians registered a total score of 1,485 (best 20 players) to lift the Tan Sri William Mawan challenge trophy. Placed second were St Thomas Alumni (total nett score of 1,546), followed by Tanjong Lobang College Alumni from Miri and Sacred Heart Alumni from Sibu, fourth.

St Thomas Alumni retained the gross title in the 10th edition of the tournament with a total score of 519 strokes, three strokes ahead of St Joseph Alumni. Tanjong Lobang Alumni (533) ended third with Sacred Heart Alumni (556) fourth.

Abu Bakar Kiprawi won the individual gross title with an 83, followed by Abdul Aziz Sahari (84), Joseph Lau (86) and Kedong Luhat (87).

The individual nett title went to Robert Elone who carded a 70 to pip Sukiman Aini to second spot on countback.

Third and fourth spots (also ocb) went to Annuar Abu Bakar finishing ahead of Francis Ting after both carded 71s while Anthony Tan (72) beat Peter Goh to fifth spot. Chan Pak Seng (73) finished seventh.

The best dressed team was St Joseph Alumni in the one-day event of 120 golfers.
