MARUDI: Charles Balan Seling is grateful to Chief Minister and president of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem for appointing him as one of his political secretaries from PBB.

At the same time, he wishes to thank other PBB leaders particularly Datuk Amar Douglas Unggah Embas (PBB senior vice president) and Datuk Dr Stephen Rundi Utom (PBB secretary-general) for recommending him for the post.

He said his appointment further proved that the Chief Minister is a considerate leader and takes into account all the needs and aspirations of the peoples of Sarawak, no matter who and where they are.

He regarded his appointment as an honour to the Orang Ulu community, particularly the Kenyahs and Kayans in Telang Usan constituency who are a minority.

“With the huge responsibility going along with this appointment particularly in assisting our local member of parliament and member of the legislative assembly, it is a challenge for everyone how we can come together in unity and to be adaptable to the changes that surround us without having to have our beliefs, our cultures particularly respect to our elders eroded away, that we can move forward in tandem with the other races for the betterment of Telang Usan,” he said when met at an event at Sg Stapang A yesterday.

“I therefore hope that we stop being confrontational with one another, be able to sit down in humility and make the most of what have been put in place be it as a result of an election or as a result of appointment by the government,” he added.
