PUTRAJAYA: The Sarawak Bus Services Transformation (SBST) initiative for Kuching is now at the final phase, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Nancy Shukri.

She said the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) together with the related agencies and the state government were putting the finishing touches on the procedures to be followed by the state and federal governments.

Nancy said the two governments had agreed in principle that Sarawak’s Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Transport (MIDT) would be appointed as the implementing authority for the SBST in Kuching.

“With the appointment, all technical obstacles including channelling of allocations from the federal government can be resolved,” she said in a statement here yesterday.

Earlier, Nancy, who is responsible for SPAD and Sarawak Commercial Vehicles Licensing Authority, had received a courtesy visit from an MIDT delegation led by its permanent secretary Safri Zainuddin.

Also in the delegation were representatives from the Sarawak Bus Transport Companies Association. — Bernama
