SIBU: Four senior officials from the University of Canterbury (UC), Christchurch, New Zealand visited Methodist Pilley Institute (MPI) here recently and gave a talk on studying at UC.

The visitors were UC deputy vice-chancellor (academic) Dr Hamish Cochrane, stewardship coordinator Leonie Partridge, alumni relations coordinator Samantha Dench and UC Students’ Association president James Addington.

The talk highlighted the UC Bachelor of Commerce degree credit transfer programme for MPI students taking the Diploma in Business Management or Diploma in Accounting courses.

Students who have completed an MPI Diploma can be credited with up to 120 points (one year of study) towards a UC Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree.

And, instead of taking three years to complete a BCom, they can complete the degree in two years.

There are 12 subject majors offered under the BCom degree – Finance, Human Resource Management, Information Systems, International Business, Management, Operations and Supply Chain Management, Marketing, Strategy and Entrepreneurship, Taxation and Accounting.
