High Court adjourns drug trafficking case

KUCHING: The High Court here yesterday adjourned a drug trafficking case involving three private college students to Oct 15 for case management.

Judge Datuk Stephen Chung also ordered the prosecution to tender all the relevant documents to the counsels representing the three accused – Syed Amin Shah Wan Asiff, 24; Nirosh Dharmani Tharumalingam, 27; and Badrul Hisham, 29.

Chung also set Sept 23 for a pretrial conference pertaining to the case.

The three are jointly charged with possessing 630.95 grams of cannabis when detained at a house in Poh Kwong Park here around midnight on June 18.

They are facing the death penalty provided under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 read together with Section 42 of the Penal Code.

All three are represented by counsels Shankar Ram and Daniel Ling.
