Heads of Chinese associations call on Adenan

KUCHING: The Federation of Chinese Associations Sarawak, headed by its president Hii Teck Yun and eight association presidents paid a  courtesy call on Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem at Wisma Bapa Malaysia, yesterday.

They spent around 30 minutes talking on several issues concerning the Chinese community in Sarawak, and later presented a memorandum on these issues  to the chief minister.

Hii said the meeting was a fruitful one and thanked Adenan for taking his time to listen to them.

“Among issues that we talked about was the appointment of Chinese community leaders and councillors.

“We wanted to know if there is still a quota for non-governmental organisations.”

Other issues raised were healthcare and the crime situation.

The federation consists of over 460 associations from throughout Sarawak.
